Who does not love to take advantage of the first rays of sunshine and sit in the outdoor area of a lounge or café to enjoy a nice cup of Espresso? However, to make this possible restaurant and hotel owners must first release their outdoor patio furniture from their winter quarter. Did you know that outside furniture - even if it is made from particular hardwearing wood types - has to be stored away for a few months so that it is not exposed to frost, cold weather or snow? That means that at the end of the season, everything has to be folded away, carried into the cellar and stored until spring. But such effort is well worth it because attractive garden and patio furniture from weather-resistant tropical woods such as teak, robinia and keruing hardwood have an inviting appearance as a result of which they have a positive impact on the turnover of a restaurant.

Depending on the type of wood, outdoor furniture has already been treated with natural oil to protect it against extreme weather conditions (rain, snow, frost). To provide patio furniture with long-term protection, it should be oiled regularly. Without treating the furniture regularly with oil, its surfaces will become brittle and rough.

The woven material consists of synthetic fibres, which are based on polyethylene which also applies to the polyester fabric used. Both materials are very tear resistant as well as UV and weather-resistant. The polyester fabric but also the nylon weave can be ordered in a wide range of colours and prints. Apart from that, due to their light fabric, patio chairs of this type are easily stackable. In combination with rattan (rattan look/poly rattan) patio furniture is created, which is very popular in street cafés, bistros or brasseries.

Gastro pubs still like to use aluminium chairs and tables for their outdoor areas. Whether anodized or powder coated, aluminium patio furniture is also very easy to stack and store. Due to its quickly forming thin oxide layer, aluminium has a silver-grey appearance. This oxide layer makes aluminium rust proof. Werzalit ® is a worldwide unique hardwearing wood-based material, which was developed almost 50 years ago. This material is suitable for allweather conditions; it is durable and can be processed into a wide range of shapes and colours, which makes it the ideal choice for producing and designing table tops for patio furniture. Werzalit ® is an exactly defined mixture from soft and hardwood, which is pressed into form under heat with special thermosetting resins. The result is a very hardwearing material compound with an even material structure, which is biodegradable.

However, it is not only the highly homogenous and compressed material structure that makes Werzalit ® such an intelligent choice. Exact formulas as well as a special surface finish ensure these excellent characteristics. Following the production of the initial cast at temperatures of ca. 165ºC, the adhesive power of the similar resins in the surface and core material are activated, resulting in an unsolvable material complex, which makes a table top extremely resistant against wetness, heat and wear and tear. Many attempts have been made to copy Werzalit ®; however, so far its quality has been unrivalled. Anybody who sees a Werzalit ® table top does not realize that it is not made from plastic. Outside it looks rigid and robust; however, on the inside it is made from natural wood. Apart from for patio furniture and table tops, Werzalit ® is particularly well suited for window sills, balconies and facades. The material is continuously subjected to strict external and internal test regulations by being exposed to extreme conditions in climate changes and long-term tests outside. The resistance to changing weather conditions of the material core as well as fastness to light are guaranteed up to 15 years.
