Barstools
Barstools are high stools, usually with a footrest but no backrest. Due to their high, narrow design, barstools are the ideal solution for sitting at a bar or counter. Barstools are available in a variety of styles and in a number of different materials.
These are some of the materials used in the construction of barstools:
- Anodized aluminum (looks like stainless steel)
- Polished aluminum
- Stainless steel
- Metal (stainless steel, brass, chrome-plated)
- Wood (mostly beech wood, walnut, ash, oak)
- Plastic
- Foam (cushions)
- Leather (seat covers)
- Imitation leather (seat covers)
Standing aids used as barstools
Standing aids are barstools that are fixed to the floor and have no real seat. Standing aids are ideal for use in snack bars, fast food restaurants, and coffee shops. They usually have a smooth, easy-to-clean surface.
Designer barstools
Designer barstools are real eye catchers. They are often adjustable by means of a gas pressure spring. The seats tend to be ergonomically shaped, making them extremely comfortable to sit on, and their frames are generally made of polished chrome. Due to the fact that designer barstools are made from high quality materials, they remain stable and comfortable even after years of use. Barstools with upholstered cushions usually offer a choice of different fabrics and imitation leathers to allow you to express your own individual style.
Barstools - where to find them
Barstools can be found in bars, pubs, hotel bars and lounges, as well as in club houses, municipal halls, bars in private homes, and party rooms. Top notch designer barstools and furniture can be found in trendy nightclubs, such as the Club-Loon in Diez, the Inside Bar and the Monsa Orient Lounge in Frankfurt or the Moonlight club in Giessen. Classic barstools are more likely to be found in the Dehner Blumen Hotel in Rain, the Hotel Munich Palace, or the Hudson Bar in New York. Bar furniture sets the style and tone of any location.
Barstools that set the tone
Barstools are a popular choice and almost indispensable for bars that want to convey a Mediterranean atmosphere. A Bodega, for example, only feels authentic if it has traditional Spanish furniture items. Barstools, counter tops, and display cases are very often made of dark wood with ornate decoration. The Marshall Bar in Stuttgart is a fine example of an attractive Spanish bar.
Stools
Like barstools, stools of all shapes and colours have come back into fashion in the past couple of years. Not only are they found in trendy living rooms, but also in lounges, bars and popular clubs. Upholstered stools are covered in leather or imitation leather, while their legs are normally made of plastic. Among the most popular stools are the classic cube-shaped stool and the two-seater upholstered stool. They are often sold in imitation leather or fabrics in special colours and patterns (such as imitation zebra, cow, or tiger skin). For the catering trade, most manufacturers offer an optional stool trim which is usually made of 3-4 mm thick aluminum. A stool trim prevents liquids like coffee or coke from seeping into the fabric and foam. Special stools, often in embossed leather, can also be combined in order to form suites and relaxation areas, for instance in lounges, hotels, or clubs. Special stool designs include extremely low stools on practical castors, which offer mobility, variability, and coolness. There is no limit to the versatility of stools: they can be used to make a lounge out of a sofa, or they can add one more seat to the ensemble. Of course, they can also be converted into a table. The Hussen stool, on the other hand, is comfortable and quilted, frequently with fine corduroy covers. Soft stools or cushions from the Orient are extremely comfortable. These normally have a long zip along one side, enabling the foam to be removed for washing. The cover and the high quality foam filling should be washed separately. Material used for the stools: 45% acryllic, 40% polyester, 15% polyviscose.
Other kinds of stools are:
- Fishing stools
- Stacking stools
- Folding stools
- Triangular folding stools
- Folding barstools
- Knee stools (computer chair)
